It is hard to believe that 2008 is here
Where did last year go?It seems hard to imagine that it has been a year and a half since I was diagonesed with cancer.I am so thankful that God has been with me.Lots of good things have happened during that time.Just to mention a few:The clinical trial I am on has kept the cancer stable for over a year.I have met a lot of new friends I may have not met if it were not for the cancer.I have learned a bunch about cancer, not only the disease but some of the support groups available.IE Gildas club and a remarkable lady, Felice,a group leader at Gildas who also performs many other functions at the club.Last fathers day I had the opportunity to deliver the serman at The Gathering, Dave and Paula Fosters church.I continue to ride my Harley and Dickie and I have had the opportunity to travel to some fun places.
Another thing I have found interesting is that when a person sets goals, there are three primary areas:Spiritual, finiancial[business]and family. For many years my main thrust was in the area of finiancial goals. The other two areas were important, but finiancial seemed most important. However I now look at things a little differently and find the other two areas are prehaps more important.Looking back over my life I now wish that I had balanced my goals differently. There is so much joy and beauty in your spiritual and family goals. When I watch my grandsons playing or when I see the power of prayer in peoples lives it makes me realize what is wonderful in life.Success is important but if you lose all of your money, which I have done[in 1974]you can always get more money, however you can never recapture the laugh of a baby or the feeling you get when you know that you know God.At a meeting I conducted recently on goal setting I urged the paticipants to reflect on balance and to cherish what is important.
A quick update on my health:I am still taking daily chemo pills with infusions every 2 weeks at St Thomas.[]A quick note:The staff at the hospital are a wonderful group of people and I thank them for what they do.]Every 6 to 8 weeks I undergo ct and body scans. My last scans showed the cancer in my bones was still stable.I am still on my pain pills twice a day.I thank God for the wonderful medical care we are blessed with in this great country, the USA.
If you know of anyone who is going thorough cancer I will gladly send them a little book ,Healed Of Cancer, which is very inspiring.Just send me an address and I will mail it to them.My email is hal@halwilson.net
Again thanks for all your prayers and support.
Hal
