My Journey to Healing

Happy Summer

Gosh a little over 2 weeks to the 4th of July and the end of the first half of 2009. It has been an evenetful 6 months having spent 4 visits in St. Thomas Hospital experiencing things I never experienced before, i.e. dehydration causing me to be unable to walk due to weakness. Another visit gave me the opportunity to experience about every test there is from blood tests to MRIs. The highlight of the hospital visits was my week in intensive care and receiving 9 blood transfusions. I am really looking forward to the second half of 2009 and especially July 4th weekend at ouf Fairfield Glade Condo with the grandsons, Harry and Hayden.
My health is pretty good right now. The new chemo, Sutent, is not having any negative effects except for fatigue and tooth problems. I go next week for an MRI on my back as it is giving me mega problems like sleeping, walking and standing. Hopefully the ortho docs will figure it out.
God has blessed us abundantly during this cancer journey and I hope and pray to have more time in the future.
If you get a chance check out our new web site Christianswithcancer.org. Our new web person, Naomi Brooks, is doing a great job. Kudos to Naomi and thanks.
As I close, I wish each of you a happy and fun summer.
Hugs to all and God Bless - Hal

Hal, It’s great to hear you’re doing well! Gotta keep proving the gloomy-gus’ wrong! Thanks for the continuing positive words. I don’t know about everyone else, but it sure helps us stay focused on what’s important and reminds us that the “problems” we encounter each day are not problems at all - not compared to the real challenges some are facing.
    The new website looks great!
    Have a Happy 4th! As Hannity says - “You’re a Great American!”.
Say “Hi” to Dickie for us. Love you both,

    Hello, Hal!

I am so glad that the Sutent seems to be helping. Thank you so much for this blog because it helps so many people. For instance, I can now mention Sutent to my brother who is battling kidney cancer. He also has a great amount of back pain. I really hope your latest MRI and the docs can help your back pain. It is just wonderful to hear you are feeling better besides your back. Man, you have been through the mill! But the way you do battle and your sense of humor has touched us all. God Bless you. I also didn’t know prednisone can contribute to bleeding ulcers - I take prednisone for my liver disease, so now I will be aware of possible stomach problems - so thank you for your information.
I know probably the best medicine you could have is time at your condo with your grandsons, Harry and Hayden. Hope your time there was great. I know that when Grace comes to see me, I get an extra boost of love and joy.
Hey, don’t worry if you lose your hair - Look at Yul Brynner in the King and I , and Howie Mandell on tv - both very good looking men!

God bless you and your family!

    Judy
