My Journey to Healing

Welcome to Hal’s Blog

I wanted to let you know what is going on in my life since I last posted on Veterans Day. As some of you know my cancer has taken a different path as of lately. I started to feel a little worse as the winter approached and it has gone downhill since. Not to complain however, our holidays were excellent especially being with the worlds most wonderful grandsons; soooo cute!!!
Our business is doing well. Bryan, our property manager, is doing a good job at keeping 85+ rental units occupied and thanks to Terry our trusted maintenace man of about 15 years along with Bryan for taking care of the maintenance. I don’t go into the office but about 1/2 a day a week. My wonderful caregiver and wife of 46 years takes care of me and drives me where I need to go. About a month ago I decided to give up driving due to my fear of hurting others due to my pain meds I am on. The docs are still trying to regulate my pain meds.
This past Monday, my oncologist told me he had done all he can do. So Monday, I go to a new doctor at a new hospital. In business as well as in life, we do all we can do and never give up until going forward is fruitless. i will keep you posted until that time comes.
Sort of a brief reflection of my life has been very enjoyable as I have some of my days consumed by remembering growing up, starting businesses, and the birth of our children. Another highlight recently took place when 17 of my Fr. Ryan HS buddies showed up at our home with food and drinks. Many lies were told that afternoon. I was overwhelmed by their love and friendship.
These 66 years to date has left me with many great thoughts now compressed into my biography.
My faith has continued to grow stronger day by day the past several years and continues every day. Thanks to my family, friends, relatives and God for helping make my days better.
God bless to each of you.

    Hal,

I pray for you daily and count myself fortunate to have met you and been in your presence a few times. I didn’t know if you felt up to talking on the phone, but this is fine. Good to read your words.

God loves you and your family so much.

    Hal,

We rented from you about the first 10 years of our marriage and couldnt have found any one nicer or more friendly. We got to see you last summer at a demolition close to our home and you were still smiling as we remembered you 27 years ago.

We lost most of our family to cancer and our prayers are with you and your lovely family. You are a strong man in heart as well as the community and we will pray for you.

    Patrick (Pat) and Debbie

    Hi Hal,
I read your blog today and I feel compelled to tell you how much you have blessed my life since I met you right after you were diagnosed. You have been an inspiration to me and so many others. I know that when you meet your Lord he will say the words we all want to hear some day, ‘well done, good and faithful servant’. I am praying for comfort and healing for you and your family.
    God’s blessings,
    Pam

Hal, you have been a wonderful mentor for Toby and I.
You and Dickie have always been there for us, from going to our kids birthday parties or watching me become an American citizen.
You both have been the best(adopted) American parents & grandparents.
We are so grateful for your friendship and you will be dearly missed.
    We love you both,
Love Sarah, Toby, Matt & Katie
